Blanka Vas of the SD Worx Protime team won stage five of the Tour de France Femmes, from Bastogne to Amnéville, in the Moselle, as her teammate and race leader, Demi Vollering, battled for survival in the race after a high-speed crash.
As the peloton entered France for the first time in the week-long race, the stage was marked by a mass crash in the last 5km involving Vollering Britain’s Pfeiffer Georgi, racing for DSM-Firmenich Post NL, and a large group of other riders.
