The reigning Super League champions, Wigan Warriors, held their nerve when it mattered most to move top of the table with two rounds remaining after edging a thrilling contest with Hull KR to move ahead of the side who started the night in first place.
The Warriors led once all evening, for only nine minutes: but it was the only time that mattered. They trailed by two scores on multiple occasions but capitalised on two separate yellow cards for the visitors to score the points required to move to the summit and to the brink of another major trophy, with Liam Marshall’s late try ultimately the difference.
