World No 1 Jannik Sinner beat Alexander Zverev 6-3, 7-6, 6-3 in the men’s singles final, with the Italian claiming his third grand slam with victory in Melbourne.
Sinner successfully defending his 2024 Australian Open title without facing a break point in the final, as his dominant serve proved too powerful for Zverev. The 6ft3in 23-year-old cruised through the opening set before the German rallied in the second set, forcing a tie-break. Despite Zverev gaining a mini-break early on, it was Sinner who prevailed.
