The nomination of Micheál Martin as taoiseach was delayed after a row over speaking rights forced proceedings in the Irish parliament to be suspended. Opposition parties including Sinn Féin, Labour and independents in the People Before Profit alliance are furious that independent TDs who have entered a formal agreement to prop up the coalition government are wanting to sit on opposition benches, allowing them speaking time.
